In August 2018, the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners honored School of Government staff member Patrice Roeslerwith the Hall of Fame award. Roesler serves as manager of elected official programming for the School’s Center for Public Leadership and Governance after an esteemed 42-year career at the Association.

In accordance with the University’s policies and statements and to ensure safety of students, faculty, and staff in anticipation of Hurricane Florence, all School courses and MPA on-campus classes are canceled and the School of Government building is closed Thursday, Sept. 13 and Friday, Sept. 14.

In 2018, UNC School of Government faculty member Leisha DeHart-Davis was recognized as one of nine Thorp Faculty Engaged Scholars for their community engagement through scholarly endeavors. The program, an initiative of the Carolina Center for Public Service, brings together selected faculty from across campus for a two-year experiential, competency-based curriculum designed to advance their engaged scholarship.
