The UNC General Alumni Association honored School of Government Dean Mike Smith with the 2017 Faculty Service Award, which celebrates faculty members who have performed outstanding service for the University or the Alumni Association. Each year the award recognizes two UNC faculty members.

The International City/County Management Association (ICMA) invited faculty member David Ammons to offer a prediction about performance management in local government for the coming year to be included in an ICMA e-book, 17 on 2017: Predictions on Local Government from 17 Experts.

Graduating MPA@UNC student Ryan Rotundo was recently featured by the University for his work creating employment opportunities for people with developmental disabilities.

Following a Lifelong Calling

On Monday, January 9, 2017, National Geographic photographer Jim Richardson will deliver the Milton S. Health Environmental Lecture at the annual meeting of the NC Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts at Hilton Charlotte University Place at 8:45 a.m. The lecture is free and open to the public.

The School of Government has received a $110,000 gift from Prudential for continued funding of initiatives that support the School’s work assisting North Carolina local elected officials as they lead and govern their communities.
