Criminal history checks of individuals 18 and older who live in the prospective adoptive home, licensed foster parents, applicants for foster parent licenses, and adults living in foster care homes provided to the state Department of Health and Human Services are not public records, are confidential and privileged, and may be used only by the division and other legally authorized persons.
The Department may destroy the information after it is used for the purposes authorized by this section after one calendar year.
