G.S. 131D-21.1

Another law, G.S. 131D-21(6), provides that adult care home residents have a right to confidentiality of their medical records.
G.S. 131D-21.1 expressly allows adult care homes to disclose those otherwise confidential medical records to a private peer review committees if:
The committee has been approved by NC DHHS;
The committee's purposes are to (1) survey facilities to verify quality of care; (2) resolve written complaints, and (3) develop knowledge to inform measurement of quality of care; and
The committee keeps such records confidential.
