Elected Register of Deeds School

This advanced school for those holding the register of deeds office is intended to enhance the register’s knowledge and analytical tools for fulfilling their decision-making managerial responsibilities. The school covers the following topics: leadership, information and records management, budgeting, public employment law, liability, ethics, and difficult current issues. A test will be given at the end of the school, and attendees must submit a paper within thirty days of school completion that analyzes and applies approaches discussed in the school to the register’s operations.

Local Government Federal Credit Union offers scholarships to local government employees to apply toward tuition for conferences, classes, and seminars offered by the School of Government. There are four deadlines to submit applications:

  • March 1 (for courses starting between April 1 and June 30)
  • June 1 (for courses starting between July 1 and September 30)
  • September 1 (for courses starting between October 1 and December 31)
  • December 1 (for courses starting between January 1 and March 31)

Additional information

Attendees: North Carolina Registers of Deeds. This school is not for deputies or assistants. 

Certification: A recommendation for advanced certification from the N.C. Register of Deeds Association will be made for attendance and successful completion of an examination and the required analytical paper.
