Confidentiality of MH/DD/SA Service Records: Subpoenas and Court Orders

It goes into great detail in discussing how to handle subpoenas for mental health, developmental disability and substance abuse information from patients. It provides information on communicating between the party that issued a subpoena and the health care client in question. It also describes court proceedings.

Separate from subpoenas, court orders are also addressed in this document with respect to confidential health care information and situations in which disclosure of private health information may be withheld or must be disclosed.
