Lee Mandell joined the School of Government in July 2008. Mandell retired from the NC League of Municipalities after 20 years as director of information technology and research and chief information officer. Prior to joining the League, he did applied research on a variety of state and local government management and technology issues as manager of the Systems Development Group at NC State University's Center for Urban Affairs and Community Services. He is chair of the NC Geographic Information Coordinating Council and a member of the NC Information Technology Advisory Board. Mandell received a BS from New York University and an MA and PhD from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
