Marcia first joined the Development Finance Initiative (DFI) in 2012 as a Community Revitalization Fellow while a graduate student pursuing dual master’s degrees in public health and city & regional planning at UNC-Chapel Hill. She became a Project Manager in 2013 and Associate Director in 2018. As Associate Director, she handles business development for DFI and provides specialized assistance related to community engagement across all DFI projects. Marcia oversees a portfolio of DFI projects ranging from the adaptive reuse of historic buildings to downtown revitalization strategy, as well as supporting resident-driven neighborhood revitalization efforts. Her areas of professional expertise include urban revitalization areas, creative placemaking, and asset-based community development. She has 14 years of community economic development experience. Prior to graduate school at UNC, she worked at a statewide nonprofit dedicated to building the capacity of low-income communities to address environmental injustices.
