Law & Administration for Building Code Officials

The Law and Administration course is an overview of North Carolina's building regulation system and is designed for the education and training of building, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and fire prevention code enforcement officials. Course participants will study the structure of the federal, state, and local governments, the history of the North Carolina State Building Code, the General Statutes relating to the Code and to code enforcement, and the enforcement responsibilities of local inspection departments. Upon completion, course participants will understand the scope of code enforcement and will be able to describe the powers and responsibilities of inspectors.
