Lead for North Carolina Hosts Winter Training on Diversity

On January 17-18, 2020, Lead for North Carolina (LFNC) Fellows and representatives from their host governments convened in Chapel Hill for a winter training on diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility for our state’s local governments. The two-day event is part of LFNC’s ongoing efforts to provide training and growth opportunities for Fellows and jurisdictions participating in the program. Training events seek to cultivate a network within the state where Fellows can share best practices and lessons from their jurisdictions.Read More
CAGC Presents “Build with the Best” Award to Norma Houston

The Carolinas Association of General Contractors (CAGC) awarded School faculty member Norma Houston with their Build with the Best award on January 25, 2020. This award honors “an individual who has contributed significantly to the improvement of the Carolinas construction industry and overall economic welfare of the region.” Houston received the honor at the CAGC’s Pinnacle Awards Ceremony during the organization’s 99th Annual Convention in Aruba.Read More
Four Faculty Members Appointed Bradshaw Professorships

In 2009, Richard and Judy Vinroot pledged a gift of $1 million to the School of Government in honor of Richard’s longtime friend, mentor, and law partner, Robert Bradshaw. A portion of those funds were matched by the state’s Distinguished Professors Endowment to create the Robert W. Bradshaw Jr. Distinguished Professorship.Read More

Tar Heel Bus Tour Journeys to School Projects Across North Carolina

Ninety faculty and staff from UNC-Chapel Hill traveled across the state on October 16-18 on the Tar Heel Bus Tour, a three-bus journey to 26 towns and cities throughout North Carolina. Through the three-day, two-night trip, bus tour participants learned about the issues facing North Carolinians and the people who are working to effect change—including community members and their University partners.Read More
