UNC President Margaret Spellings to Deliver 2017 Deil S. Wright Lecture

UNC President Margaret Spellings will deliver the 2017 Deil S. Wright Lecture at 2:00 PM on March 31 at the School of Government. The event is free and open to the public. Nationally known as an education thought leader and public policy expert, Spellings most recently served as president of the George W. Bush Presidential Center in Dallas, Texas. Spellings previously served as president and CEO of Margaret Spellings & Company, president of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, US secretary of education, and chief domestic policy advisor for President George W. Bush. Spellings is a graduate of the University of Houston, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in political science. She also received an honorary doctorate and Distinguished Alumna Award from the university in 2006.Read More

Faculty Member David Ammons Receives Budgeting Award

Faculty member David Ammons received the 2016 John “Jack” Vogt Award for Outstanding Commitment to the Advancement of Local Government Budgeting and Evaluation at the North Carolina Local Government Budget Association (NCGLBA) Conference in Charlotte on Thursday, December 8. NCLGBA gives this award to individuals who have devoted their careers to innovation and leadership in advancing budget and/or evaluation practices in North Carolina local government. Faculty Member Jonathan Morgan Elected to IEDC Board of Directors

Faculty member Jonathan Morgan was elected to serve a two-year term on the board of directors of the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) at its recent annual conference in Cleveland, Ohio.
