Conducting Hearings and Entering Judgment for Magistrates

This course is sponsored by the North Carolina Judicial College.

This two-day course is offered through the North Carolina Judicial College. It is intended for magistrates who would like to become more comfortable conducting hearings and entering judgments in small claims court. Topics will include courtroom decorum, legal research, judicial decision-making, procedural fairness, common evidence problems, and completing judgment forms. The course will combine lectures, group discussions, and small group exercises. The course will culminate in a mock trial exercise where magistrates will apply the skills they have learned.

Attendees: NC magistrates holding Small Claims Court who have attended Introduction to Small Claims for Magistrates

Application: To apply for this course, click the "Register" button above. Space is limited to 30 magistrates. The deadline to apply for this course is Wednesday, April 30 at 5pm. Applicants will be notified via email if they have been accepted into the course no later than May 2nd.

Qualifies for 10 hours of Magistrate CE credit.
