2026-2027 Finance Calendar of Duties for City and County Officials

The annual School of Government publication, Finance Calendar of Duties for City and County Officials (2026–2027), identifies the timeline throughout the fiscal year for the principal accounting, financial reporting, and budgeting duties of city and county officials. This calendar is part of the Local Finance Bulletin series.

Note: This bulletin was originally published on June 16, 2026, and was republished on August 6, 2026, to correct the following items under the heading “Miscellaneous Duties” and in the Notes.

1. The following text was removed from the entries for July 10, 2026; October 10, 2026; January 11, 2027; and April 10, 2027:

Fiscal year [appropriate fiscal year] Quarter [appropriate quarter] HUB Building Construction spending report due to the Department of Administration, Office for Historically Underutilized Businesses (using HUBSCO e-reporting system), covering [applicable date] of 2026. For building projects with spending of $30,000 or more.

2. The following text was removed from the entries for July 30, 2026; October 30, 2026; January 30, 2027; and April 30, 2027:

Last day to file quarterly local public health expenditure report with State Department of Health and Human Services.

3. The text of note 4 was changed to read: “This date is transferred from Sunday, January 31.”
4. Note 5 was removed.
