School of Government Recognized by International Association of Assessing Officers

Kirk Boone accepts a Presidential Citation from IAAO

At the 2016 annual International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO) conference in August, faculty member Kirk Boone accepted a Presidential Citation on behalf of the School of Government in honor of three former faculty members "in recognition of outstanding service and dedication to the International Association of Assessing Officers." The faculty members include Joseph Ferrell, who was a member of the faculty of the School from 1996 to 2016; William Campbell, who was a faculty member from 1965 to 1966 and again from 1969 to 2005; and Joseph Hunt, who was a faculty member from 1983 to 2009. The citation was presented by IAAO President W.A. (Pete) Rodda, who serves as property tax manager for the North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles.

“I am pleased to have these former faculty members recognized for their work with IAAO,” said School of Government Dean Mike Smith. “Our long-time work with tax assessors epitomizes the central mission of the School: to help public officials improve local government and, by extension, their communities.”
