What is this?

The Level 200 Procurement Modules provide the knowledge and skills for public procurement practitioners in North Carolina local governments.

Who are these modules for?

The Level 200 curriculum is designed for intermediate procurement professionals who are ready to expand beyond foundational purchasing knowledge and develop more advanced skills, as well as NCAGP members pursuing CLGPO certification.

What do the modules cover?

Level 200 builds on concepts introduced in Level 100, and the courses explore complex procurement topics, strengthen analytical and decision-making abilities, and prepare participants to address the practical challenges encountered in day-to-day operations. Through a focus on strategic thinking, risk management, contract administration, leadership, and specialized procurement practices, Level 200 helps practitioners move from understanding the rules to applying them effectively in a variety of local government contexts.

Current Level 100 modules include:

  • 201 – Emerging Trends in Public Procurement
  • 202 – Managing Risk in Contracts—Bonds and Insurance
  • 203 – Managing Relationships with Vendors
  • 204 – Emergency and Crisis Procurement
  • 205 – Taking Action When Contracts Go Wrong
  • 206 – Public Records and Procurement
  • 207 – Interlocal Cooperation and Collaborative Procurement
  • 208 – The Art of Specifications and Qualifications
  • 209 – Contract Administration for Local Governments
  • 210 – Training Non-Procurement Staff on Procurement Rules
  • 211 – Leading Procurement Teams and Creating Culture
  • 212 – Using Data to Inform Procurement

How will I access the modules?

After purchasing registration, you will receive an automated email from Canvas. The email will come from notifications@instructure.com and it will provide direct access to the Level 200 Procurement Modules course page. Canvas is the same platform School of Government faculty members use to provide course materials for live instruction courses.

Can someone else view the modules with me after I purchase registration?

Yes. However, only the individual who purchases the Level 200 Procurement Modules will receive course credit. If you plan to use the modules toward CLGPO certification, registration must be purchased in your name.

Where can I find more information about CLGPO certification?

Updated information about CLGPO certification can be found on the School of Government’s website here.

I have a question about CLGPO certification. Who should I contact?

It depends on your question. Please direct questions about certification qualifications to Certification Committee Chair Chris Payne at chris.payne@greensboro-nc.gov. Questions about the logistics of certification application can be sent to School of Government staff member Sunsan Hutchinson at CEcoordinator@sog.unc.edu.

I have an idea for additional modules. Who should I contact?

Great—we welcome ideas that will help you and your peers learn! Please send suggestions to School of Government faculty member Crista Cuccaro at cuccaro@sog.unc.edu.
