Recovery Courts: An Overview for Defenders

This course is co-sponsored by the UNC School of Government and the Office of Indigent Defense Services.

This webinar focuses on the defense attorney’s role in recovery courts in North Carolina, including drug treatment, veterans, and DWI courts. Defenders will learn about relevant authorities and resources, how these courts work, the different players involved, how to navigate being an advocate and upholding client confidentiality while in a team setting, and what it means for a client to be successful in recovery court.

Registration will be open June 2 to August 1, 2025. The deadline to register and view the webinar is Friday, August 1, 2025. Content is available now and will remain available to anyone who registers until Friday, August 1, 2025. The webinar offers 1.0 hour of general CLE credit. To receive CLE credit, all participants must register individually, even if the webinar is watched in a group setting. CLE credit will be submitted on your behalf to the State Bar by Friday, August 8, 2025.
