Introduction to Communicable Disease Law

Participants in this one-day workshop will learn the fundamentals of North Carolina communicable disease control law, including:

  • Disease reporting and surveillance
  • Communicable disease control measures, including isolation and quarantine
  • Enforcement of communicable disease laws 
  • Confidentiality in public health communicable disease control activities
  • Special issues associated with minor children 

Who Should Attend

The workshop is for people who work in the North Carolina public health system and the attorneys who support them, including local health directors, medical directors of local health departments, communicable disease nurses, county attorneys, and other professionals in North Carolina’s state or local public health agencies who work with communicable disease.
