The School for Local Government Finance Officers

Date: September 28, 2026 - May 7, 2027  | Multi-Day| Hybrid | Registration Fee: $ 1,000

Registration will close one week before the program.

The School for Local Government Finance Officers is a year-long professional development program designed for North Carolina local government finance officers in their first three years of service. The program provides a strong foundation in financial management and public finance law, with an emphasis on statutory compliance, internal controls, communication, and day-to-day operations. Each session includes hands-on assignments that strengthen internal processes and result in practical tools participants can immediately use in their own units.

The program includes four in-person sessions held in Chapel Hill, designed to support cohort building. These sessions provide time for participants to develop professional relationships, learn from peers across jurisdictions, and build a network that can serve as an ongoing resource throughout their careers. In-person sessions will begin at 1:00 p.m. on the first day and conclude by 3:00 p.m. on the final day.
