This project offers an understanding of the programs and organizations (faith-based, nonprofit, or public agencies) that are already successfully building social capital. The team will do so by
- building on the research of experts and using their recommendations to identify exemplar organization or agency programs;
- scanning those programs for their basic characteristics, approaches, and measures of success;
- identifying key successful cases that would provide specific, generalizable, and scalable lessons learned on how government practitioners support these efforts;
- from these, identifying detailed best practices that human services agencies might adopt or encourage nongovernmental community-based organizations to adopt;
- developing transferable tools that build the capacity of these agencies or organizations to model practices; and
- disseminating tools so they can be used, monitored, and evaluated to understand long-term effectiveness.
