Defending Sexual Assault Cases Training

Registration is closed for the 2026 Defending Sexual Assault Cases course.
This course is designed for defenders who handle or intend to handle sexual assault cases. Topics will include pretrial investigation, motions practice, theme and theory, common legal issues, forensic interviews of children, SANE exams, challenging experts and working with experts, SBM, registry, sentencing, consent, and psychosexual evaluation. The course is comprised of plenary sessions and a workshop where participants will be guided by experienced practitioners as they consider approaches in a sample case.

REGISTRATION FEE
The registration fee for private assigned and managed assigned counsel, capital attorneys, private attorneys, and others is $350. There is no fee for IDS state employees.
CONTINUING EDUCATION INFORMATION
The course will offer approximately 12 hours of continuing legal education (CLE) credit, subject to Bar approval.

CANCELLATION POLICY
Course participants who cancel their registration more than 7 calendar days before the course start date will receive a full refund. Otherwise, participants will receive a transferrable credit to be used within 12 months. More information can be found in the full cancellation and refund policy.
