Higher-Level Felony Defense, Part I

This course is sponsored by UNC-Chapel Hill School of Government, and Office of Indigent Defense Services.

This program is for attorneys interested in handling higher level felony cases at the trial level. The program focuses on two important aspects of this work: preparing serious felony cases for trial and jury selection in such cases. Topics will include investigation and discovery in serious felony cases, third party records, client relations and rapport, working with experts and investigators, jury voir dire, jury strikes, Batson challenges, and addressing race in jury selection. The program is comprised of a mix of lectures and intensive small group workshops. Due to the interactive nature of the program, participants are required to attend all sessions.
