- For individuals interested in the CGCIO program but have less than 5 years of supervisory/management experience, we recommend attending this program: Fundamental Supervisory Practices. Note: In the “updated” version of the CGCIO program, we will require all students to have demonstrated management/supervisory experience prior to being admitted to the program.
- If you are new to local government and would like to learn the basics of the laws that apply to municipalities and counties, please consider taking Local Government Fundamentals
- For personal leadership development training, Leading for Results is a stellar option for CGCIO applicants and graduates
- The flagship course for all things related to Municipal and County Government is the SOG’s MCA program, and we encourage all interested parties to consider this course

No refund will be made for cancellations on or after August 18, 2026, but you will receive a transferrable credit to be used within 12 months. Civic Local Foundation Scholarship
Civic Local Foundation offers scholarships to local government employees who are members of Civic Federal Credit Union or Local Government Federal Credit Union. Scholarships can be applied toward tuition for the School’s conferences, classes, and seminars.
Through this commitment, the Foundation dedicates scholarship funds annually to credit union members to offset the cost of attending various trainings from the School.
There are four deadlines to submit applications:
- March 1 (for courses starting between April 1 and June 30)
- June 1 (for courses starting between July 1 and September 30)
- September 1 (for courses starting between October 1 and December 31)
- December 1 (for courses starting between January 1 and March 31)
